Following a string of high profile live performances and recent awards, Greek Avant-Pop artist Lia Hide returns with the hypnotic new video for ‘Birthdays’ taken from the brilliant new album ‘The Missing Fourth Guest’. Following a stint signed to EMI-Universal, working with a number of acclaimed producers including multiple Grammy award winner Adam Ayan, the Athens-based artist has established herself as one of the most exciting names on the Art-Pop scene.

Now back with the new album, Lia and her three piece band have signed with Conch Town Records and are releasing some of their most accomplished, expansive music to date. Unafraid to experiment and push the boundaries of her music, Lia’s impeccable talents as a songwriter and performer are combined with her feverish creativity to create a strikingly unique sound and aesthetic.

The new single and video ‘Birthdays’ opens as a haunting piano led ballad before growing through layers of chorus soaked guitar, swaying drums, strings and bells. Pinned together by Lia’s whispery, hypnotic, melancholic lead vocal, her vocal performance captures an entrancing and beautiful fragility to match the reflective lyricism. Accompanied by a video montage of Lia’s performances through the years, the track is given a visual aid to further emphasise the tracks message.

Speaking about ‘Birthdays’ Lia describes the new single as: “A birthday song written deep in the recent quarantines, when no celebrations were possible – a quasi-lament with an optimistic twist, Birthdays is the opening song of ‘The Missing Fourth Guest’. Also touching on (with a bit of sarcasm) our excessive use of social media and isolation practices.”

Lia has studied classical piano, operatic singing, music technology, advanced harmony and songwriting giving her a vast knowledge of music theory which informs her immense creativity and innovative ideas. Having played a number of European tours including the most recent tour in 2019, a 40 day venture with 28 shows across 10 countries, Lia has appeared in a whole host of tastemaker press including CLOUT, XS Noize, Earmilk, Wonderland, Purple Melon, Readers Digest, and LIFO as well as playing support for and collaborated with a number of top international and Greek artists including: Tricky, Joseph van Wissem, Anneke van Giersbergen, Kadebostany, KBHTA, Keep Shelly in Athens, Molly Nilsson and Kovacs.
